This is one of the "darkest" plays I have ever photographed and I don't mean the text or the action on stage -- I mean the lighting. Director Michael Edwards planned it that way and while the audience's eyes can adjust to very low light levels the camera cannot. Even at ISO 1600 the images were underexposed. Nevertheless, a few images retained their power; this one near the end of the play when Macbeth and Macduff confront each other in the haze is one of my favorites.
